Jay Obernolte advocates for federal AI regulations and prison staffing reform

Rep. Jay Obernolte, representing California's 23rd district in the U.S. Congress, has been vocal about several issues through his recent tweets. On April 20, 2025, Obernolte addressed the rapid pace of innovation in artificial intelligence, emphasizing the need for regulation. He urged Congress to implement "a single unified federal regulatory framework for AI to avoid a complex patchwork of conflicting state laws," advocating for "clear federal standards and expert guidance."

On April 22, 2025, the Congressman discussed the staffing crisis in federal correctional facilities managed by the Bureau of Prisons.
