Jay Obernolte promotes art competition, honors military families, and remembers fallen deputy

Representative Jay Obernolte, a U.S. Congressman from California's 23rd District, has been actively engaging with his community through social media. His recent posts have focused on opportunities for young artists, honoring military families, and paying tribute to law enforcement officers.

On April 4, 2025, Obernolte announced the opening of the 2025 Congressional Art Competition, inviting high school students from his district to participate. He stated, "The 2025 Congressional Art Competition is now open for high school students across our district to showcase their creativity and talent. I encourage all interested students to submit their artwork for a chance to have it displayed in the U.S. Capitol and be recognized for their".

Two days later, on April 6, 2025, Obernolte commemorated Gold Star Spouses Day, recognizing the commitment and sacrifices of military spouses who have lost their partners. He tweeted, "Today, we celebrate Gold Star Spouses Day to honor the spouses of our fallen service members. We recognize their resilience, sacrifice, and the strength they demonstrate following a tremendous loss."

On the same day, Obernolte shared his experience of speaking on the House floor to honor Deputy Hector Cuevas Jr. of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department. Deputy Cuevas was killed in the line of duty at the age of 36. Obernolte expressed, "This week, I had the opportunity to speak on the House floor to honor Deputy Hector Cuevas Jr. of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. Deputy Cuevas tragically lost his life in the line of duty of March 17, 2025 at just thirty-six years old. Deputy Cuevas embodied".
