TOWN OF APPLE VALLEY: Closes Animal Shelter, Reduces Services

Petclinic

Town of Apple Valley issued the following announcement on Dec. 4.

Effective Saturday, December 5, 2020, the Town’s municipal animal shelter is closed through the end of the year. Animal services staff will continue to provide for animals within their care; however, adoption, return to owners and rescues services will be available by appointment only. Intake of animals will be closed to the public.

Animal Control officers will respond to emergencies only, including for injured or stray animals, cruelty and neglect complaints, bite complaints and dangerous and aggressive dog complaints.  Officers will patrol and work from their vehicles but will not make contact with the public during this time of recommended social distancing and quarantining. Officers will not respond to non-aggressive stray pick-ups of healthy animals, licensing complaints, barking and nuisance complaints, or trapping and transport of cats. Owner turn-ins will not be accepted at this time.

If you believe your lost animal may be at the Town shelter, please call (760) 240-7555.

Residents may also mail their dog license renewal payments along with any required documents to: Apple Valley Animal Services 14955 Dale Evans Parkway, Apple Valley, CA 92307. Documents will be return mailed along with the renewed license.

The Town’s dog parks at Civic Center Park are open at this time but the public is recommended to keep a safe distance from one another during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Local information will be updated on the Town's Facebook page and website at applevalley.org. Please email questions to info@applevalley.org.
