Rep. Jay Obernolte, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing California's 23rd district, shared insights and personal messages through a series of tweets. Obernolte, who has been in office since 2021 after succeeding Paul Cook, engaged with tribal leaders and supported military families through legislative action.

On November 25, 2024, Rep. Obernolte highlighted his recent engagement with tribal leaders across the nation to discuss issues of tribal self-determination and self-governance. He emphasized the importance of allowing tribes to manage services that were previously controlled by federal agencies. The full tweet can be viewed here.

On November 28, 2024, Rep. Obernolte expressed his support for military families by voting for the Keeping Military Families Together Act. This bipartisan bill extends the VA’s authority to allow military families to be laid to rest together permanently. He acknowledged the sacrifices made by servicemembers and their families in his statement here.
