Rep. Jay Obernolte, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing California's 23rd district since 2021, recently shared updates on legislative developments and local community engagements through a series of tweets.

On November 17, 2024, Rep. Obernolte announced that "H.R. 8932, the FAFSA Deadline Act, has successfully passed the House with my support!" The bill mandates that FAFSA applications adhere to their original deadline of October 1st to ensure timely financial aid for students and families.

The following day, November 18, 2024, he expressed enthusiasm over another legislative achievement by stating "I'm excited to share that H.R. 7409, the HEATS Act, has passed the House." This bill aims to streamline geothermal energy projects by amending the Geothermal Steam Act of 1970 to waive federal drilling permits on certain lands and exempt specific activities from national regulations.

Later on November 18, Rep. Obernolte informed his constituents about a change in schedule due to a cancellation by a local organization: "Due to the Barstow Chamber of Commerce canceling their scheduled meeting for the First Street bridge ceremony, my office’s planned Mobile Office Hours will be postponed." He encouraged those needing assistance with federal agencies to contact his District office.
