TOWN OF APPLE VALLEY: Most Town Departments Close For Holiday Observance

Town of Apple Valley issued the following announcement on Dec. 23.

 Apple Valley Town offices will be closed Dec. 24 through Jan. 3 for the holiday season. Town Hall will resume offering virtual and online customer services on Jan. 4.  All Town facilities remain closed at this time to in-person customer service due to the state’s stay at home orders.

Building inspections will be available upon request by calling (760) 961-7047. Inspections for calls placed prior to 7:30 a.m. will be completed the same day. Inspections for calls received after 7:30 a.m. will be completed the following day. No inspections will be conducted on Dec. 25 or Jan. 1.

Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center remains closed at this time. However, residents are invited to pick up sharps boxes on Dec. 23 and Jan. 6, between 10 a.m. and noon. This is not a drop-off event. The boxes can be turned in when HHW resumes operations. Limit two per customer. The facility is located at 13450 Nomwaket Road.

HHW items, including sharps, can still be disposed at the San Bernardino County location, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. As hours of operation may change, residents are encouraged to call ahead by dialing (909) 382-5401. Apple Valley Animal Services remains closed to the public at this time.  For animal emergencies during the holiday break please call the Town dispatch number at (760) 961-6001.  Calls for service will be screened to determine urgency. Special arrangements will be made for turning in strays or picking up lost pets at the shelter or in the field. If your pet gets loose, contact the shelter immediately at (760) 240-7555; leave a message with a complete description and contact information. If your pet has been turned in to the shelter and the shelter is contacted, but the pet cannot be returned immediately you will not be charged for boarding that day. This does not include the holidays or weekends.

Police Department administrative offices will be closed Dec. 24, 25, 31 and Jan. 1. Residents may call dispatch at (760) 956-5001 to make a police report. Dial 9-1-1 in the event of a life-threatening emergency.

For emergencies concerning sewer, water, flooding, traffic signs or signals, vicious dogs, dogs with life-threatening injuries, or emergencies regarding a town facility, please call the Town after-hours dispatch number at (760) 961-6001. For non-emergency inquiries visit av.town/letusknow.

The Town Council approved this holiday closure to reduce operating costs and paid-leave liabilities.
