In a post made at 16:01 UTC, Obernolte urged constituents to participate in Election Day, stating: “Today is Election Day! Make your voice heard. Polls are open across our district. Find your polling place with the link below and cast your ballot. Every vote matters!”
Later that day, at 19:50 UTC, Obernolte addressed developments regarding the federal government shutdown: “Today Senate Democrats voted against reopening the federal government for the 14th time in a row. The House has already passed this bill, which would simply extend funding at existing levels while negotiations continue to take place. That means that later today the shutdown”. Jay Obernolte has served as a member of Congress since 2021 after succeeding Paul Cook and previously held office in the California State Assembly from 2014 to 2020. Born in Chicago in 1970 and currently residing in Big Bear Lake, Obernolte holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), earned in 1992.
