Jay Obernolte, currently serving as a U.S. Congressman for California’s 23rd District since 2021, has recently taken to social media to share updates and express gratitude towards constituents and initiatives. Obernolte, who succeeded Paul Cook in Congress, also has a background in the California State Assembly where he served from 2014 to 2020.
On May 10, 2025, Obernolte announced the winners of the Congressional Art Competition from California’s 23rd District. In his tweet, he stated: “Each spring, the Congressional Art Competition celebrates the creativity of high school students across the nation. I’m thrilled to announce the 2025 winners from California’s 23rd District, selected by our expert panel of judges. Their talent reflects the bright future of the”.
The following day, on May 11, Obernolte extended warm wishes on Mother’s Day through another tweet: “Heather and I wish a heartfelt Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms in California’s 23rd District. Your love, strength, and devotion shape the lives of your families and the future of our country. We are grateful for you today and every day!”.
On May 12, Obernolte highlighted his legislative efforts with a focus on transportation regulations by announcing his co-leadership on H.R. 3194 via Twitter: “I am proud to co-lead H.R. 3194, the LOCOMOTIVES Act, to stop California from imposing burdensome regulations on trains operating across state lines. CARB’s previously proposed rule would have disrupted interstate commerce, increased consumer costs, and harmed critical freight”.
Jay Obernolte was born in Chicago in 1970 and currently resides in Big Bear Lake. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from the California Institute of Technology in 1992.
