Rep. Jay Obernolte, who represents California’s 23rd district in the U.S. Congress, announced new federal funding for rural health care and shared a recent case of constituent assistance through his official social media account.
On December 30, 2025, Obernolte posted: “California is receiving over $230 million through the Rural Health Transformation Fund created under the Working Families Tax Cuts Act. In a district as large and rural as ours, this funding will strengthen local hospitals, support emergency services, and expand access to quality”. The following day, he highlighted his office’s work on behalf of a constituent: “My office recently assisted a local veteran after a Social Security error incorrectly listed him as deceased, causing his VA compensation benefits to be terminated. My team worked directly with agency liaisons to resolve the issue and restore his benefits within a week. If you https://t.co/iLZo5JadHH” (December 31, 2025).
Obernolte has represented California’s 23rd District since 2021 after succeeding Paul Cook. He previously served in the California State Assembly from 2014 to 2020. Born in Chicago in 1970 and currently residing in Big Bear Lake, Obernolte graduated from the California Institute of Technology in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science degree.
