Rep. Jay Obernolte, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 23rd district since 2021, recently highlighted his legislative efforts and support for key bills in a series of posts on social media.
On September 15, 2025, Obernolte announced the inclusion of his bill in broader weather legislation: “I am pleased that my bill, the Improving Atmospheric River Forecasts Act, was included in the Weather Act Reauthorization Act. This legislation will strengthen forecasting of extreme weather events—particularly atmospheric rivers, which are critical to California’s water supply https://t.co/p0OjnSMdRx”.
The following day, September 16, 2025, Obernolte posted a link without additional commentary: “https://t.co/eoXrYSTTUl”.
Also on September 16, he commented on defense legislation: “I was proud to support the FY26 National Defense Authorization Act when it passed the House last week. With five military bases in our district, this bill is vital to strengthening our defenses and supporting our servicemembers. It provides a pay raise for our troops, better”.
Jay Obernolte has served as the representative for California’s 23rd District since replacing Paul Cook in 2021. Before joining Congress, he was a member of the California State Assembly from 2014 to 2020. Born in Chicago in 1970 and currently residing in Big Bear Lake, Obernolte graduated from the California Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1992.
