Rep. Jay Obernolte, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 23rd District, recently shared several updates on social media regarding legislative progress and community recognition events. Obernolte has been serving in Congress since 2021 after replacing Paul Cook, following his tenure in the California State Assembly from 2014 to 2020.
On May 4, 2025, Rep. Obernolte announced that “The SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Act has passed the Energy and Commerce Committee! I’m especially proud it includes my bill, the 9-8-8 Lifeline Cybersecurity Responsibility Act.” He emphasized the importance of strengthening cybersecurity measures for the 9-8-8 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.
In another update on May 5, 2025, he highlighted his personal connection to entrepreneurship by stating “As a small business owner, I know the challenges our entrepreneurs face every day. During National Small Business Week, let’s show our appreciation by supporting local businesses and recognizing their vital role in our communities.”
On Teacher Appreciation Day, observed on May 6, 2025, Rep. Obernolte expressed gratitude towards educators with a message saying “On Teacher Appreciation Day, let’s all thank the dedicated educators of California’s 23rd District. Your commitment to shaping young minds and strengthening our communities does not go unnoticed.”
Jay Obernolte was born in Chicago in 1970 and currently resides in Big Bear Lake. He graduated from California Institute of Technology in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science degree.
