Rep. Jay Obernolte, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 23rd district since 2021, marked a series of significant national events and legislative actions in recent social media posts.
On November 10, 2025, Obernolte recognized the anniversary of a prominent military institution, posting: “Today we celebrate the 250th birthday of the United States Marine Corps — 250 years of courage, honor, and service. I was honored to mark this milestone in a ceremony with Marine veterans and thank them for their unwavering dedication to our nation. Semper Fi!”
The following day, he commemorated Veterans Day with another message: “This Veterans Day, we honor the heroes who have worn our nation’s uniform. Your courage, sacrifice, and devotion to duty represent the very best of America. Thank you for your service and for protecting the freedoms we hold dear.” This post came as part of nationwide observances honoring U.S. military veterans.
On November 13, Obernolte addressed legislative developments related to government operations: “Today with my support the House passed the bill that will finally end the longest federal government shutdown in the history of our country. I am disappointed that nearly every Democrat member of Congress voted against the bill tonight, which would have prolonged the shutdown”.
Jay Obernolte has represented California’s 23rd District since succeeding Paul Cook in 2021 and previously served in the California State Assembly from 2014 to 2020. Born in Chicago in 1970 and now residing in Big Bear Lake, Obernolte holds a Bachelor of Science degree from California Institute of Technology.
