Rep. Jay Obernolte, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 23rd district since 2021, has used his social media platform to highlight recent legislative actions and policy initiatives he supports in Congress.
On February 5, 2026, Obernolte expressed support for President Trump’s new policy addressing addiction: “I welcome President Trump’s launch of the Great American Recovery Initiative, which treats addiction as the chronic, treatable disease it is and expands prevention, treatment, and recovery support. This effort builds on the meaningful actions we’ve already taken recently in”.
Two days later, on February 7, 2026, Obernolte posted about his efforts to assist veterans transitioning to civilian life: “I spoke on the House floor in support of H.R. 980, which includes my bill to modernize how the VA helps disabled veterans transition into civilian careers. This legislation allows veterans using the Veteran Readiness and Employment program to pursue vocational flight training https://t.co/R9VaNnDolD”.
On February 8, 2026, Obernolte commented on Congressional progress regarding federal funding: “This week, with my support, Congress completed work on the FY2026 appropriations bills, providing full-year funding for all but one major federal agency. Advancing an appropriations package rather than relying on a continuing resolution allows Congress to exercise meaningful”.
Obernolte succeeded Paul Cook in representing California’s 23rd district beginning in 2021. Before his tenure in Congress, he served in the California State Assembly from 2014 through 2020. Born in Chicago in 1970 and currently residing in Big Bear Lake at age 52, Obernolte graduated from the California Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1992.
