Rep. Jay Obernolte, who represents California’s 23rd district in the U.S. Congress, has recently highlighted his ongoing legislative priorities and community engagement through a series of posts on social media.
On September 21, 2025, Obernolte announced an award from the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC), stating: “I was honored to receive the Benjamin Franklin Public Policy Award from NAMIC. I will continue fighting to support consumers and strengthen policies that protect families and communities.”
The following day, on September 22, he posted about meeting with representatives from Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD). He wrote: “It was an honor to meet with advocates from Mothers Against Drunk Driving, including my constituent Colin Campbell. We discussed the importance of preventing impaired driving, supporting victims and their families, and advancing policies that keep our roads safe for everyone.”
Later on September 22, Obernolte addressed veteran suicide awareness: “Far too many of our heroes are lost to suicide, with an average of 22 veterans dying every day. Raising awareness is an essential step in ensuring they receive the support and resources they need. We honor our servicemembers and veterans by standing together, spreading awareness,”
Jay Obernolte has served as a member of Congress since 2021 after replacing Paul Cook. Prior to his current role in Washington D.C., he represented constituents in the California State Assembly between 2014 and 2020. Born in Chicago in 1970 and currently residing in Big Bear Lake, Obernolte graduated from the California Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1992.
