Rep. Jay Obernolte, who represents California’s 23rd district in the U.S. Congress, recently highlighted several legislative and community initiatives on his social media account.
On February 8, 2026, Obernolte announced the enactment of his legislation aimed at supporting organ donors: “I’m proud to share that my legislation, H.R. 628, the Honor our Living Donors Act, was enacted as part of the FY2026 Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act. Obernolte has served in Congress since replacing Paul Cook in 2021 and previously held office in the California State Assembly from 2014 to 2020. He was born in Chicago in 1970 and currently resides in Big Bear Lake. Obernolte earned a Bachelor of Science degree from California Institute of Technology in 1992.
