Rep. Jay Obernolte, Chair of the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee’s Research & Technology Subcommittee and U.S. Representative for California’s 23rd district, has recently highlighted legislative initiatives and his ongoing work in Congress through a series of social media posts.

On August 13, 2025, Obernolte emphasized the significance of artificial intelligence policy in the United States: “As Chair of @housescience’s Research & Technology Subcommittee, I know how critical it is for the U.S. to lead in AI. President Trump’s AI Action Plan lays out key priorities to keep America ahead—focused on innovation, growth, and global leadership.”

In another post dated August 15, 2025, Obernolte addressed his constituents directly regarding constituent services: “I believe the most important part of my job is to fight for the needs of our community. I’m very proud of the work that my team and I have done so far this Congress! If you or someone you know needs assistance with a federal agency, don’t hesitate to reach out to my District”.

Most recently, on August 16, 2025, Obernolte drew attention to new tax relief provisions included in H.R. 1: “H.R. 1 allows families to deduct interest on loans for vehicles manufactured in the U.S., reducing costs for consumers while strengthening American industry. This is just one of numerous tax relief provisions included in this legislation. Learn more here:”

Obernolte has served as a member of Congress since replacing Paul Cook in California’s 23rd district in 2021 and previously held office in the California State Assembly from 2014 to 2020. Born in Chicago in 1970 and currently residing in Big Bear Lake, he holds a Bachelor of Science degree from California Institute of Technology.
