Rep. Jay Obernolte, who represents California’s 23rd congressional district in the U.S. Congress, shared updates on recent activities and legislative initiatives through his official Twitter account this week.

On August 19, Obernolte posted about a visit to a major military installation: “This week I had the privilege of visiting the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms to meet with base leadership and observe the world-class training that prepares our Marines for missions across the globe. The following day, he highlighted engagement with local government leaders: “I enjoyed meeting with Twentynine Palms Mayor Steve Bilderain to discuss key challenges and opportunities facing the city and surrounding communities. Later on August 20, Obernolte addressed constituents about new federal legislation affecting families: “Did you know that H.R. 1 creates and funds a $1,000 savings account for every baby born between 2025 and 2028? It’s a head start that can grow over time and help families in the High Desert and Inland Empire build a brighter future for our next generation.”

Obernolte has represented California’s 23rd District since replacing Paul Cook in Congress in 2021. Before his tenure in Washington D.C., he served in the California State Assembly from 2014 to 2020. Born in Chicago in 1970, Obernolte resides in Big Bear Lake and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from California Institute of Technology.
