Rep. Jay Obernolte, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 23rd district since 2021, has recently shared updates on federal fiscal policy, tax reforms, and new legislation benefiting veterans through his social media posts.

On August 1, 2025, Obernolte emphasized his stance on budget management by stating, “Tackling the deficit requires reducing government spending, not raising taxes. Read my new op-ed on how we can balance the federal budget without burdening working families: https://t.co/UBED1Sbw4x”.

Highlighting legislative progress for veterans, Obernolte announced on August 4, 2025: “The VA Home Loan Program Reform Act has just been signed into law, a major win for America’s veterans! This legislation creates a permanent program to help veterans behind on VA-backed mortgages avoid foreclosure and stay in their homes. It’s a critical step in honoring their”.

Obernolte has served as a U.S. Representative since succeeding Paul Cook in 2021 and previously held office in the California State Assembly from 2014 to 2020. Born in Chicago in 1970 and currently residing in Big Bear Lake, he graduated from the California Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1992.
