Congressman Jay Obernolte, representing California’s 23rd district, recently toured the Adelanto ICE Processing Facility. The visit aimed to assess the conditions under which detainees are housed and engage with facility leadership.

Following his tour, Congressman Obernolte stressed the need for transparency amidst growing misinformation about the facility. “Facilities like Adelanto exist to help ICE enforce our immigration laws and keep our communities safe,” he stated. He further noted that most detainees have committed serious crimes besides being in the country illegally and are processed quickly, fairly, and humanely.

During his visit, Obernolte observed various aspects of the facility including intake processes, medical facilities, immigration courts, and housing areas. He received briefings on detainee classification and management procedures. According to him, those in custody have access to medical care, legal counsel, meals, and all rights guaranteed under federal law.

The Adelanto ICE Processing Facility remains under federal oversight as a crucial component of national immigration enforcement efforts.
